House of the Day: 786 Putnam Avenue
This house at 786 Putnam Avenue is a real charmer. Tons of original detail, including some beautiful parquet floors and a killer staircase. The house is also located in just outside Stuyvesant Heights, the longtime-landmarked section of Bed Stuy with one of the most incredible and well-preserved stock of old houses anywhere. The house is also located in just outside Stuyvesant Heights, the longtime-landmarked section of Bed Stuy with one of the most incredible and well-preserved stock of old houses anywhere. The house is only three stories, though, so it’ll be interesting to see if it fetches its asking price of $799,000. We bet it’ll get pretty close.

Oh for crying out loud, CGar.
The bathroom with the shower and ‘funky’ sink is on the garden level.
The bathroom with the two sinks is on the Parlor level.
Get your stories straight 🙂
This is not “just outside” the historic district it is five blocks away. And five blocks make all the difference. I doubt this will go for ask. People are hurting out there. Maybe not in Park Slope or in Cobble Hill, but in other places. I don’t think a house on this block will fetch three quarters of a million dollars. Not until the economy improves.
“I’m thinking of on kancock”
DIBS, were you at that demonstration with those guys from Kansas? It appears you may have ‘turned’ one.
“it looks just like one I’m thinking of on kancock.”
More confusion.
Dave, I did. Take a look, and tell me you don’t see a 3rd bedroom in the floorplan on the top floor, which actually appears to be the bathroom with the funky shower overlooking the garden, and there’s no top floor bathroom configured as the 2 baths are shown on the floorplan.
I think the bath with the funky shower at the end is actually the third “bedroom” on the top floor, and the bath with the tub at the end, beneath the window, is actually the one on the Parlour (or Parlor) Floor. LOL.
In any case, I want to see this house in person.
That’s not a ten minute walk…Come on.
Yes, 9 1/2 blocks and like the old man denton, I can do at least 1 1/2 blocks per minute so that means it’s a 6.3 minute walk.
Sorry about the Putnam/Hancock mixup. it looks just like one I’m thinking of on kancock. And, putnam is probably a nicer looking block too
Oh, this is on Putnam. Sorry, I had it confused with a house I saw on Hancock.
it’s stll less than 10 minutes to the A stop.
Sorry. But it’s still less than 10 minutes
Ha Montrose! Yes, it was sarcasm… and it was actually meant in a *different* racist sense (i.e., the price should be a lot lower because you have to “deal” with black folks), but your take was a little more nuanced.
Oh well, I guess I should stick with the usual unintentional and subconscious racism from now on!
