While the intense colors and period vibe might be a little much for some people, the house at 601 6th Street in Park Slope is undeniably top-notch. Located just off the park, the 4,400-square-foot turn-of-the-century house is configured as a three family, so there’s lots of extra income to help cover the mortgage you’ll have to take out to cover the asking price of $2,695,000. While that’s a lot of money these days, it doesn’t seem crazy given the size, quality and location of this place. After all, a year ago this would have been priced somewhere north of $3 million.

  1. MM what happened to your impeccable taste? 🙂 Sorry but that color scheme and decoration is fugly and plain abrasive. Frankly it takes away from the great detail still present in this house.
Not a big deal though as the paint can be easily replaced but the real issue there is the price…appears relatively cheap compared to last few years but today this is a touch too expensive….will take at least a 20 t0 25% reduction.

DIBS we hear you on the rental issue a major consideration obviously but can’t one leave in the top triplex and make the bottom 2 floors a duplex with main entrance @ garden level for renters?
Yeah there is something weired about having renters walk thru your space especially @ this price range.
BTW: MM we love Barney too but that purple sucks:)

  2. “am I alone in thinking if I can afford these prices, I
really dont want to deal with tenants?”

i feel at any price – if you don’t want tenants, you don’t want tenants. plain and simple. i don’t want tenants at my price point, so forget it if i could afford 2M! Definetly want to afford that mortgage tenant free.

  3. It’s also right across from Hamilton Park. The map for some reason is showing the side of the building. You have to look around the corner on Jersey Ave. to see it. I want to go take a look at this, shoot 789K???

  4. But Dave, purple is the color of royalty!!

I believe the Romans created their purple dye from the secretions of a mollusk, or somesuch, which was so expensive, that it was decreed that only the emperor could wear it.

How could you hate purple? Besides, these rooms are more of a lavender, periwinkley color, not a true purple.

  5. THL, has ppty taxes (to solve current budget gaps) spiked in Jersey City yet?

driving thru JC everyday has rubbed off on me. Van Vorst Park has 1 or 2 replica’s of this HOTD for sale. Wonder if they’ll drop to ~$1M so I can at least start daydreaming about them

Nope, I agree. I couldn’t bring myself to buy a two family. I didn’t want the hassle. I want my neighbors behind party walls!
