This one-family brick house at 84 Joralemon Street in Brooklyn Heights just hit the market with a price tag of $3,400,000. We wouldn’t kick this place out of bed for eating crackers, but we’ll be interested to see if this number is achievable. The exterior is perfect and the interior has lots of charm—but it’s not a show-stopper. It makes us wonder what the going price is for a very nice but not eye-popping house in The Heights is. Thoughts? Comps?

  1. Awwww. Made my day Biff. Maybe we’ll take a look at this one. I will shake the dust off of my house-lookin’-self and call the broker. Especially since the price just came down 6 hundey since I last looked.

  2. I checked out the listing. Would be nice if the Agent put a bit more thought (and proper punctuation) into the effort! I wish I could say in good faith that you should snap it up, but I can’t. I’m not at all crazy about the decor (colors, furniture, gold everything), although of course all that can be fixed. I need to see some bedroom/bathroom/kitchen, etc. shots. The lack of such pictures is never a good sign. But if there are still lots of original details intact, it might be worth it to throw out a real lowball offer and update the home to your own taste.

  3. “I like this house. And I think this is a really nice stretch of street here. Biff?’

Nokilissa, PLEASE BUY THIS AND BE MY NEIGHBOR!!!! Ok, I’ll look at the listing before I count down the days until you move and try to be objective, but regarding the location: yes, this is definitely a nice stretch Joralemon Street. I frankly don’t like the street nearly as much when you get west of Hicks – it starts descending (topographically that is) rather quickly at that point and is too close to the BQE. But this part is great. And so close to Garden Place, which is arguably the nicest street in the Heights.

  4. The street, location and the facade may all be very enticing but that interior looks like a 1960s rehab capped off with a fake Tiffany lamp, ceiling fans and the dreaded recessed lighting. Maybe I’m not looking hard enough under the “staging” but it’ll never sell to someone wanting to pay that money and get the architectural details.

And Nokilissa is right…lack of kitchen and bath pics is a red flag.

  5. There’s nothing wrong with this house and a lot that is very right. As I often write, I don’t care about bathrooms, how much does it cost to re-do a bathroom?
This should sell easily for 3.2 to 3.4. It is definitely a genteel house.
