This one-family brick house at 84 Joralemon Street in Brooklyn Heights just hit the market with a price tag of $3,400,000. We wouldn’t kick this place out of bed for eating crackers, but we’ll be interested to see if this number is achievable. The exterior is perfect and the interior has lots of charm—but it’s not a show-stopper. It makes us wonder what the going price is for a very nice but not eye-popping house in The Heights is. Thoughts? Comps?

  1. You could put in new crown moldings and central ceiling medallions after you install the central a.c. The mantels are beautiful. Check to see if the original shutters are in place and of course if the original stair details are in place. At this price, most buyers would want to re-do the baths and kitchen to their taste anyway. It is the location, and the good bones, that will sell this house.
I actually have admired it and its immediate neighbor (from the outside only).

  2. A few other options. You’ve likely looked at them already. I seem to remember you involved in the Garden Place discussions. Sheesh, I feel like I’m your agent! I would be hesitant to buy right now, but you never know if a lowball offer will be snapped up…these all seem to be worth a look at least.

  3. Nokilissa…I think your boyfriend Biff started that when there were some weird ads being posted over there>>>>>>>>

Some jeans ad with some guy that looked like Biff or something.

Anyway, I always love looking at Carberry’s listings. When I win the lottery tonight; if I can find some bodega that isn’t still selling drugs and hasn’t been too gentrified to buy a ticket, I’ll be ringing up Mr. Carberry in the morning.

  4. I’m just saying that all those bookcases and cabinets look to be modern (1960s style) additions and don’t go with what I’d expect for a house like that. Nor do the crown moldings, exposed painted brick and the fireplaces. Firplaces look to have some original tilework but maybe more modern matle pieces. I could be wrong but that rarely happens!!! 🙂
