House of the Day: 128 Washington Avenue
This should qualify as an “Under the Radar” listing, don’t you think? It’s hard to imagine that this place is getting a whole lot of exposure (or maybe the owner’s knew that we’d cycle by and be unable to resist the luddite charm of their handwritten for sale sign). All we know about the house…

It’s hard to imagine that this place is getting a whole lot of exposure (or maybe the owner’s knew that we’d cycle by and be unable to resist the luddite charm of their handwritten for sale sign). All we know about the house is what’s on Property Shark. With a footprint of 16.67-by-30 feet and only three stories high, it ain’t big. We’ve got no idea what the interior is like, but that front door doesn’t suggest an owner who’s overly obsessed with historic detail. The number in the window is 347-583-4973. Let us know if you find out the price.

hey burbs, no one said it would be a private golf course.
To the rest of you, I love how you’re all now arguing about whether this will turn into a gold course or not– as if that were a possibility.
I used to live in manhattan upper east side across from the swimming pools. I cannot describe the screams that I heard all day. I would rush to the window to see if someone was drowning. I think that some people wouldn’t mind, but I did, and probably wouldnt want to live across from a public athletic park again.
For the record, Clinton Hill was *built* by the gentry– the original, old school gentry. Ya know, the robber-baron kind that owned oil companies and (literally) hung out with Rockefellers and refused to hire the Irish. The neighborhood’s current situation–majority African American, but welcoming to all, working, family, artsy–is a pretty great situation. Would be nice if it were affordable to more people, but, then, you could say that about Perry St. in the West Vill, too. Meanwhile, back at the house in question: does anybody know what they’re asking for it? I think the block is pretty nice, myself.

WTF?
Clinton Hill is one of the most gentrified Neighs in Brooklyn. And no I don’t want to see a BBall court turned into a Tennis court or some White corny playground. Last time I check the neighborhood i still dominant African American. Notice I didn’t say “Black people”, why?. Because there’s a minority, educated, working class community here that for the most part has been minority owned. Stay your Ignorant ass out of here.

Not quite true. There is drinking and sex on suburban golf courses, but no firecrackers unless there are plans for immediate departure. There’s a lot of money invested in golf courses. There are people employed to ensure the property is not damaged maliciously. Divots are one thing, but night-time demolition by fornicating drunks is something else.
Thank you anon 9:41 AM. … as of late, some of the postings at this site are unbelievable…
this is hilarious
also wtf is up with people assuming only white people play golf and tennis and none of them play basketball.

a golf course would be awesome, because it has grass and trees. There would, however, be just as much late night drinking, firecrackers and open air sex if you live across from a golf course. Ask anyone from the suburbs.
looking for a condo and just stopped by… its 2007… these racist assumptions are just ridiculous….amazing!
where i live we have basketball courts down the street and i am block from the bqe ….and we have a lot of love and respect for one another. its a wonderful feeling- i know everyone on my block and we look out for each other. the basketball courts also provide a form or recreation… hello! .. wtf?!
i’ll take the love and community in my neighborhood over the ignorance i’ve seen on this board anyday. face to face you know you would never say the things you’ve said here and you are smiling in peoples faces… check yourself. must be crazy living with all of those feelings instead. get some counseling…dont envy that at all..
anyways its called dignity people.. while looking for a home find some of it… its out there… probably somewhere close to a basketball court! 🙂
