578 7th Street hit the market last summer with an asking price of $2,650,000, which proved to be way more than the market would bear, given the narrowness of the house and its rather dated interiors. There’s been a change of brokers recently, though, along with a new asking price of $2,199,000. And although the interior decoration that has a certain vintage Carroll Gardens vibe to it, there is some nice original detail to be found and the location, just off the park, can’t be beat. Someone’ll go for this near the ask, we suspect.

  1. so if a group isnt marginalized or descriminated against it’s okay to mock? duly noted! lol i guess im guilty it with my moonface biases hahah

    *rob*

  2. The house is beautiful but why would you put a property on the market at this price with such awful photos and mattresses on the floor. It looks like a student hostel. But it also looks immaculate and very well cared for- something I’ve noticed about the houses of my Italian and Irish Catholic friends. BTW-speaking as a person of the Hebraic persuasion, I was embarrassed to see how similar the decor is to the house of a member of my family so I think we can lose the what-ethnicity-decorated for today.

  3. Donatella, I must have mush for brains today because I don’t understand your comment either. Was I trying to be funny in your first read? Or are you referencing someone else?

Geez. Half my frickin’ family is Catholic and extremely proud to be so. And not once has any of us/them (I’m totally a-religious) been marginalized, made fun of or discriminated against because of it. At least in the past thirty years or so. I’m out of this one.

  4. What are you talking about, Vinca? Good God. I was referencing Brownie, not you! And no. I have no idea whether you are WASPY, purple or spotted. I was talking about Brownie, and I was being sarcastic because many had seemed to jump to a conclusion he had been unwittingly discriminatory against Catholics. I thought not.

Wow, so quick to take offense! It isn’t as if Catholics are some marginalized, discriminated-against, beaten-down group of outsiders, just “fightin’ to get theirs”, who are being condescended to by Brownie.

Yeah, just a bunch of jokers. Better leave the comedy to the funny people.
