Yowza! This townhouse at 105 Lincoln Place that just popped up in the Brownstoner Marketplace is not for traditionalists but buyers with a more modern bent will be tripping over themselves to check it out. Except for the stairs and some window details (which are presumably protected by Landmarks law), the four-story brownstone has not only been gutted but in some parts hollowed out. The most prominent feature of the makeover: A large steel-and-glass staircase connecting the garden and parlor levels that been dropped into the middle of the floorplate. From where we sit, the fixture choices in both the kitchen and bathrooms are very tasteful and the yard benefits from the 137-foot-deep lot. Of course, modern luxury doesn’t come cheap: The price tag on this baby is $3,695,000. By comparison, this place sold for $2,000,000 pre-renovation in 2006.

dude, where’s my car? how the hell do people find their car when all the cars look exactly the same!

Ikea deluxe. A waste of original details.
Pass.
Wow, I don’t like the pit of doom concept right in the middle of the parlor floor. I see those waist high glass panels surrounding the hole, and all I can think of is being inside a new museum.
The rest of the reno is very beautiful though, I like the work on the 3rd floor, and I hope the 4th floor is done as well. The kitchen looks awesome, and the living room is nice. I just don’t see the point in sacrificing half your front parlor for stairs, when they’ve got them (you can tell the renovation left the stairwell intact, it just converted it to closets).
diggit. nicely done. someone who doesnt wanna bother with renovating will snatch it.
first thought was this place feels cold and sterile and they must not have kids, or sex. then noticed the kids toys in the backyard.
I love it (and I’m also not one for modern design). I think it’s spectacular actually. Looks great to live AND entertain in. That bedroom with the stained glass looks so nice.
Location is A+++
Nothing to criticize in my mind. The place is sweet in all respects and I am normally not one for modern design, but this one is very tastefully redone.
Not worth $3.7m but it is a prime location in Park Slope and someone who thinks beyond dollars and sense far more than I do will pick it up. Wouldn’t be surprised to see this go for $3.5m. And in the Brooklyn Brownstone fantasy world that seems detached from all economic reality, that’s a fair deal.
Incredible.
But what were they thinking with those two tiny chopped up little bedrooms in the back of the third floor??????
certain things look nice, like the wood cabinets, but the upper cabinets look straight out of ikea and the open plan looks poorly done. I hate that big glass hole in the floor. poorly done.
