384 4th Street was an Open House Pick in October when it hit the market with an asking price of $2,250,000. The two-family house has lots of original detail—both inside and out. The price was reduced in November to $2,125,000. We’re actually surprised it hasn’t been snapped up. Any theories why?

  1. I haven’t been on this site for awhile, and it’s because of properties like this. You want more than $2 MILLION bucks, but don’t offer basic middle class amenities like a laundry room or central air conditioning? Gimme a break.

  2. I think it must be the narrow width. Whatever width it is, those pictures (and the furniture layout) seem to enhance the sense of being in a narrow tunnel.

Wallpaper? Sure I’d take it off ASAP. But it doesn’t look like it is everywhere, just some rooms, and I’d never let wallpaper or paint choices stop me from buying a house or apartment I otherwise liked. I figure painting is a given. Removing wallpaper from a few rooms I could handle – it bugs me in the listings where it is everywhere – that’s a bit daunting to take on – would likely hire someone to remove it all before I moved in.

Case-Shiller’s screaming “may day”. Double sip [koolaid] can’t stop the double dip.

    Frumptastic design.
from the photos, it doesn’t scream I’m worth 2Million dollars but a neat and tidy country home in Windsorlocks, CT.

Why do people paint crown moldings a dark color? Looks awful.

  5. I saw it and am surprised it’s hanging around too. My guess was it would go between the mid $1.8s to mid $1.9s (based on some other sales in center Slope). Maybe they are holding firm at $2m +. It needs some cosmetic help and the garden apartment needs some real work before it would be rentable, but the house has a warm homey vibe to it.
