house parlor
This one seems to be a pretty solid listing: Nice 4-story brick in central Fort Greene asking just under $1.7 million. The parlor floor looks great and it appears that the kitchen has a deck off it, in addition to the standard yard. And the price seems about right, too, especially given the fact that there’s $3,500-$4,000 of rental income from the top two units. If we had to nitpick, we’d only point out how cramped and oddly built-out the rentals look. But, given the location, we doubt finding tenants will be a problem. We bet this sells for $1.65 within a couple of weeks.

  1. You guys are probably right, although they might talk like that under the cover of anonymity. Her point about us pushing the prices up might be well taken. Better I think, to discuss here what might be wrong with houses that the brokers aren’t telling us so that we can better understand and share info about what homes are really worth.

  2. I’m sorry I mentioned the FSBO idea to begin with, considering the buttons it has clearly pushed, but I do hope it comes true. My only fear: Brownstoner will be pushier than ever with certain favorite neighbs. Please don’t change, Brownstoner, be fair to all the areas, even those not selling houses by the dozen!

  3. Barbara, you are paranoid. And for very good reason. THere was an article published recently, (in the Times? can’t remember) about the paranoia of agents with respect to the internet making them obsolete.

I understand your fears. It sucks to be at the aging end of an industry; but perhaps you too can benefit, by finding a new way to work in real estate?
