House of the Day: Stuy Heights Grandaddy
This glorious architectural specimen in Stuyvesant Heights has it all going on–5,000 square feet of wood-paneling, parquet floors and stained glass. This glorious architectural specimen in Stuyvesant Heights has it all going on–5,000 square feet of wood-paneling, parquet floors and stained glass. The first viewing is at today’s open house (quick, you’ve got about half an hour to get over there!) though you’ll get another chance on Sunday. It’s currently configured as a two-family with the rental apartment on the top floor. The pictures tell the story–our only question is what kind of comps are there for this place? $1.2 million does not sound outlandish to us for the quality and location. What do people think?
416 Stuyvesant Avenue [Corcoran] GMAP P*Shark
This is a primo house on the Clinton Ave, or Remson St. of Stuy Heights. On another block, maybe you wouldn’t get that price, but on this one? I’d be very surprised to hear it didn’t sell.
And it is near all of all of the cultural amenities of Stuy Heights. They may not be much to someone used to the wealth of amenities offered in say, Park Slope, but Lewis Ave and the surrounding commercial blocks will only get better in time.
Gee, have prices gone up almost 25% in 3 months? I hadn’t realized that.
Great job Brownstoner. I have to commend you on all the news/updates that you’re providing daily.
I suspect that you may be stoking the fires of sensationalism at times…with all the debates on class, race, out-of-control developers, entrenched community activists, etc.
But all in all, it makes for a great website with good information and heavy traffic. No doubt, given all the interest and involvement, Brooklyn will one day become a first-rate city. Thanks again.
RE 12:02, I’m not sure what u mean, it’s 2-3bks from – express A train, Fulton Park, a nice coffee shop, a book store & a few cafe’s
A house right across the street sold in Jan 2006 for $975.
I’m with 11:56. Stuy Heights is nicer than the rest of BS, but it is still way out there near nothing and no one.
Beautiful. Stuyvesant Heights is also a great area that stands out from the rest of Bed Stuy. Deborah is an A+ realtor so I wouldn’t be surprised if they get the asking price within a week or two.
Anon 11:56, it’s Stuy Heights, don’t forget, which can’t really be lumped in with larger BS for comp purposes.
Property Shark says 3,300 square feet–realtor must be counting basement (which is bs). Top floor is probably a mess with all the rooms. Yeah, it’s nice but, personaly, no way I’d spend near a million for this in BS.
