house
Killer porch. That’s the first thing that’s leaps to mind about this 3-story Victorian in Fiske Terrace. The place is huge with a lot of original details (strange fireplaces, though, huh?) that we expect will catch buyers’ eyes. The big problemo, from where we sit, is that this is getting pretty far out–into Brooklyn College territory. Great houses but the commute to Manhattan’s starting to get a little long. Did anyone make it to the open house? Would be curious to hear a first-hand account.

  1. I was at the open house today. Aside from the pungent odor of cat piss permeating through the house, it had some real potential. The kitchen and upstairs bathrooms are both ripped out, in mid-renovation (i guess they ran out of money for it). It had a relatively small kitchen area for the size of the house. The upstairs rooms were in decent condition. The third floor was actually in the best condition of the three floors. Overall, a big house on a pretty block with good potential…although, I do worry about whether the cat piss smell could easily be extracted.

  2. Back to the neighborhood, Victorian Flatbush consists of several different neighborhoods-Prospect Park South, Ditmas Park, Fiske Terrace etc. Mary Kay Gallagher’s website has a great map of Victorian Flatbush for those of you who are confused with the breakdown of the neighborhood. Go to http://www.marykg.com and click on Victorian Flatbush.

  3. Hi Nativegal — yes indeed I’m in PLG, but I work in midtown now so walking’s not really an option unless I have lots of time and it’s not as cold as it is tonight! Wish I could though, thanks!

  4. Babs, I walk down Church St. to Chambers and over the Brooklyn Bridge down Jay St?, to the Fulton St mall down to Flatbush. Are you in PLG? I would definitely be up for walking to &/or from work if I had company.
