houseWe’re not sure where exactly in Crown Heights this is, but the house certainly looks interesting at only $629,000. The 1899 2-family, 4-story townhouse has a great looking wooden porch as well as a 3-car garage. From the picture on the Eva Daniels site, there appear to be some very nice original parquet floors, moldings and doors too. This should move fast, don’t you think?

  1. Great block. House attached on left side of it looks like it might need some serious infrastructural support on its porch. This is NOT brownsvill folks. Prime Crown Heights North, hopefully soon to be a historic district, which is located between Dean and eastern parkway, Kingston-Nostrand–maybe Bedford.

  2. Assuming this is 1406 Dean street which all evidence points to, I think this property has a number of good things going for it.

It is on a 30×100 ft lot and has parking in the back. It has over 5,000 ft of buildable rights.

While this is a little ways out into crown heights, this is still a nice block. You can catch a glimpse of the other houses on the street through the windows in one of the pictures.

And lastly, the taxes are a whopping $298 due to an excemption currently in place.

  3. It looks like 1406 Dean St. (house number is visible in picture). That would be Dean & Kington. I guess you can say it’s cheap, since everything else in the neighborhood goes for around 800K. Maybe if the front were restored back to what it should be (maybe brick or some (real) wood siding), it would look nice. Why judge and call it a shit box.

  4. I’m glad to see i’m not the only one who thought this did not look like a bargain. The more I look at the picture, the more that it really only seems like 2 floor plus an attic and a basement. $629 seems like a lot for 2 stories in Crown Heights.

I don’t know where on Dean, the website just says Dean.

  5. My guess is this is way east — like getting into Brownsville. Wouldn’t it be funny if they started calling Brownsville/ENY Crown Heights? I remember not even a year ago Corcoran has a house on Prospect Pl and NY Ave that they claimed was “a stone’s throw,” from Prospect Park, the Brooklyn Museum, etc…
