So what are the odds that the renovation done on this place didn’t totally destroy any trace of original detail? We’d guess about zero. Too bad, too, cuz it’s such a beautiful structure. And as long as we’re guessing, we’d say the location was Crown Heights somewhere. Anyone know for sure? Shlomo’s asking $799,000 for the place.

  1. I saw this property maybe February of last year. The location is Troy Ave. between Eastern Pkwy and Lincoln Pl. The bedrooms were small, no details left, the basement was made into “living” space and the comments about the loud music coming from the Spanish restuarant across the street and the drug-dealing are correct.

I believe it was originally listed at $865k and was eventually lowered to $799, although it has been at the lower price for at least 8 months and I personally don’t foresee anyone buying it until it gets down under $700k. It would have to be an investment property since I don’t really see anyone living there for the long-term.

Also, this property has been listed through countless agents-I say it with someone named Jay-and oftentimes listed concurrently with different agents and different prices.

    It’s a mess…

  2. The agent’s name is Shlomo? You don’t need to see the inside to know it’s stripped of anything charming, the “renovation” job is shoddy and cheap and that they have crammed as many tiny little closets they have renamed “bedrooms” in as they possibly could. It’s a Fedders building that just happens to have been lucky enough ot have been born 100 years ago.

  3. I can empathise with the caged-in porch insofar as it might make some people who live in fear feel like they have some conrtol over their lives — and at least the bars can be removed by the new owner. but can anyone explain the reasoning behind gutting your historic property of all character/charm/architectural detail? at the very least, aren’t you reducing it’s value?

  4. The hosue has been for sale for around 2 years. I saw it about a year ago. I was very unhappy with the renovation. Forget about details, the workmanship looked bad and the layouts equally bad. Since by visit, I’ve heared the basement has a serious collection of rats. The poste above is correct, it’s on Troy between Eastern Pkwy and Lincoln. The area has soem other renovations and new builds, but the area is as described, rough and noisy at all hours. There’s a new building on the corner, two houses away that’s for sale because the owner hates the location. Another family that had moved into a reno, left for Canada a few months ago, but I think they were satisfied with the location. BTW, I saw two new constructions in Crown Heights on Craig’s list with price drops of 100K and 50K to start the new year. Anybody else with news of lower prices?

  5. Shlomo is not online. Just rational, reasonable people who believe in civility, that’s all, Jimmy Legs. Are people not allowed to defend anybody or anything? Nice world you choose to live in, then. You must have really nice friends (not).

  6. isn’t it amazing that people actually waste their time posting things like the one above…first, he doesn’t like you, but he frequents the site so he ups your ad revenue w/o even knowing it, and second he wastes his time posting on a site he doesn’t like…what a waste.
