dittoburg – wealth redistribution generally refers to taking $ from one group and DISTRIBUTING it to another…what you describe is simply variable tax rates.

I may not want you on a jury (and so you’ll be released after 1 or 2 days) but you being eligible allows for a broader pool (and potentially better jury)
Further I never said that you wouldnt get a ‘fair trial”; I am just saying that if everyone had your attitude (and unfortunately too many do) the trier of fact in your potential case will likely be dumber, less interested and likely more biased. Not only will that stink if you were a crime victim, but it will suck even more if your business needs to settle a dispute in court, especially if the case requires some brain power to figure out.

Last thread that got this long concerned speculation as to where fictional Sex and the City characters might want to live if they were looking for apartments in Brooklyn. For all we like to talk about real estate, it’s really sex and politics we want to talk about, apparently, as long as there is some putative connection to real estate (or was that real estate, with a putative connection to sex).
Anyway, I’ve voted Republican exactly once in my life (and not for president) and do not plan to do so in this election. But I’m glad my nearby neighbors on 11th Street feel good about displaying McCain signs. I noticed the block on my way to the subway the other day. From the article, they seem like good neighbors and that’s what matters. There are too few places left in the U.S. where people with differing political views communicate meaningfully with each other. My 11th Street Republican friends have, perhaps unwittingly, created such a space on their block. If people could dial back the invective just a wee bit more, this website would be such a place, too.
So when Obama says he is going to reduce taxes for 95% he not telling the truth?

Yes, we are the most highly taxed people in the country. The real estate giveback will end and RE taxes may go up further. We’re lucky we’re in Brooklyn and not in Manhattan on that one!!!
The ending of Iraq will be a big issue on resolving the budget. As harsh as it sounds, times have changed and we ought to just pull out. I know we’re America and can’t do anything of the sort but are there truly going to be more terrorists? Besides, then we can pal up closer to Iran and they have more oil!!
