This one-bedroom Flatbush rental sits within 123 Parkside Avenue, once the Caledonian Hospital, now an amenity-filled deluxe rental building of a kind not commonly found south of Prospect Park.
That means your monthly rent buys a lobby with a doorman, a gym with a yoga studio, a children’s play room, a TV and game lounge, and a landscaped and furnished roof deck with views of the park. Also important: The unit has a dishwasher and a washer/dryer.
And of course it’s all shiny new. But otherwise, the apartment itself offers about what’s required in a basic one-bedroom, no more, no less.
It weighs in at just under 600 square feet. The bedroom and living room are adequate but not particularly large. There’s one closet in the bedroom, one by the front door. There’s one small bathroom. There are windows on one side.
The kitchen is minimalist, with postage-stamp-sized counter space. (Note that the photos are generic model-unit shots — the island pictured doesn’t exist in this apartment, which diminishes the kitchen considerably. The views of the park seen through the windows in the photos shows may well not exist either.)
The building opened last year. There are 11 other units available there, according to the building’s website, which may or may not be current. This one is being shown this evening from 6 to 7, if you want to eyeball it up close.
The rent: $2,538 a month. Note that that price reflects a 13-month lease with a “free” month, so if you stay past that the monthly nut will be higher. If our calculations are correct, it’s actually $2,749.50 a month.
Worth it? What do you think of the place?
