Park Slope House for Rent -- 523 3rd Street

Rentals don’t often come along as exquisite as this brownstone triplex, at 523 3rd Street in Park Slope.

It’s not just the prewar detail that stuns in this one — the ornate, unpainted woodwork, the richly detailed fireplace mantels, the giant pier mirror in the front parlor, the wedding-cake plaster detailing, the pocket doors, the fireplace tiles and mirrors.

It’s the showroom condition it all appears to be in, like it’s been under wraps for the last 100 years. Check out the fireplace detail shot below, for example.

It’s a five-bedroom unit, with three bedrooms on the top floor, and two on the second floor, including a master bedroom with a walk-in closet. There’s a modern kitchen in fine shape at the rear of the parlor floor, in what’s likely an extension.

There’s also a private deck, though presumably the garden below is claimed by a garden-level tenant.

There’s central air conditioning, according to the listing, from Steve Halpern and Robert Bell of Compass, and Prospect Park is a block and a half away.

Such apartments don’t come cheap, and that’s most certainly true of this one, which carries a price tag as notable as its details: $10,000 a month. The pool of people with that kind of money to spend who are content to be renters isn’t a giant one, needless to say.

Think someone will step up for this one? How do you like the place?
