Property Shark compiled a list of the most expensive neighborhoods in NYC based on an analysis of entire neighborhoods instead of strict zip code boundaries. So which neighborhood ranked above the Upper West and Upper East Side, West Village and Chelsea? Dumbo, which came in fourth, just behind Soho, Tribeca and Flatiron. Boerum Hill, the only other Brooklyn neighborhood on the list, was the 10th most expensive. According to Property Shark: “Surprisingly, Dumbo surpassed many high-end Manhattan neighborhoods and is in forth place with a median sale price of $1,075,000, 9% up from the median sale price recorded in Q2 2010, which was $990.000.”

  1. The survey is sort of skewed it is based on median sale price. So Boreum Hill (and Dumbo) make it because they have expensive units sold in that period – Dumbo has all new all luxury units so that makes sense and I am guessing that Boreum Hill is high because it is mostly single family houses (no coops and condos) so it gives it a high median. Point is survey is meaningless….
