If you dig old houses but don’t have the coin for a whole one, this floor-through apartment at 216 St. John’s Place might feed your jones. The 22-foot-wide pad has lots of detail and a wonderful sense of scale. The new(ish) kitchen is attractive enough and the private deck is a nice bonus. The monthly maintenance of $1,032 isn’t a steal for a non-doorman building, but given that the apartment weighs in at 1,145 square feet, it’s not terrible either. Asking price: $729,000. Nice, right?

  1. This is a beautiful place. Not really out of line with other one plus apartments in North Slope. This is the kind of apartment that makes living in Brownstone Brooklyn different than other places in the country.

  2. That is a really inconvenient floorplan. You have to walk through the first bedroom to get to the bath, AND to get to the second “bedroom”. And that stove looks like it would be hell to actually cook on.

  3. The second bedroom/sunroom area is only accessible through the master bedroom, making for an awkward arrangement for a child past the age of say ten.
It is basically a spacious one bedroom/one bath apartment. I think it is on the high side given the maintanance which is what one would expect in a building with services.

  4. Great location, nice building, outdoor space (key for me). Will definitely take a look at this one. Maintenance high but not outlandish. If I had to nitpick (especially given price), may trade a little space for a tiny WC so guests wouldnt have to use main bathroom.
