Co-op of the Day: 185 Clinton Avenue, #10G
This new listing in the Brownstoner Marketplace is one of the sweeter pads we’ve seen at the Clinton Hill Co-ops. Although only 780-square-feet big, the two-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment feels very clean and open, a feeling not hurt by the unimpeded 10th-floor views. The maintenance is a reasonable $807 and the asking price is $410,000. What…

Lesloaf, hilarious.
The NYT recently had a story about 3 BR being more popular and selling more than 2 BRs. Maybe because they’re really two bedrooms!
on the projects- “and get more light than a brownstone co-op could ever hope to get.”
Uh, no. Older buildings are typically designed to take advantage of natural light (big tall windows), newer ones typically designed to rely on electrical lighting. Unless it’s *really* chopped up, any brownstone should have better light than the projects. Now, they may have better views and more space around them, but I just can’t agree with the light (or air circulation) thing.
Soooo… the location SUCKS. 5-10 minute walk to the G-train of all trains. I guess it’s good if you like going to Park Slope and Williamsburg.
The apartment above is just a 1 bedroom with an office/dining room…here is the floor plan attached to this listing I found on nytimes and you can see that this one is priced much lower!

1 bedrooms down the street on clinton ave rent for 1800 month, yorkshire bldg.
“Can’t you rent a one bedroom in the projects in a (somewhat) marginal neighborhood for less than the $800 in maintenance expense on this place?”
prolly – you can also rent this same apartment in stuy town/peter cooper village for probably 4k a month.
give me clinton hill over the east village/gramercy no-man’s land anyday.

When I was in the market for a 2 BR, nearly everything listed as a 2 BR was really a 1 BR with some little alcove space that could conceivably contain a small bed. We ended up buying a real 2 BR, which was marketed as a 3 BR.
Well, it is nice to know that there is one other person that does not want the kitchen table and chairs in the Living Room, thank you NOMI…….
the nook in the pics was probably designed as the dining room, ( as no one had offices years ago)but it seems here on “brownstoner world”, no one seems to need a table and 4 chairs, they can somehow manage to do everything on a breakfeast bar…….
