This is the kind of listing that gives us apartment envy. If ever decided to forsake brownstone living (ahem, not that we would ever do that), this three-bedroom co-op at 41 Eastern Parkway (aka The Copley) would be a nice place to end up. It’s massive, has killer views and has that prewar gravitas we’d have a hard time living without. It’s also asking about what we could get for our entire house: $1,525,000.

  1. “have a demanding job that really limits the hours you can be around (or for which you sometimes have to turn around papers in the middle of the night — e.g., banker or a lawyer),”

One of my wife close friends lived here (she has since moved to London). She is a banker who has exactly that type of schedule (works all of the time and crazy hours), and she gets paid to do it. I’ve been in the building several times and I can tell you its pretty top shelf of its kind.

  2. does it look like 2 apts were combined? particulary those interior rooms?
Certainly spacious…only thing to nitpik is kitchen not my choice and I don’t think works well with the apt. And always think those bar stools with island are useless. Especially if like to drink – can fall off stool.

  3. Very interesting, ilovebrooklyn. Thank you for that original floorplan. I mostly agree given the fact that the original has a separate formal LR and DR. The only thing I think the new one has made better is the expanded kitchen that utilizes the small office and offers seating at that peninsula for a very informal gathering. But the formal DR is really nice.

OS the adjacent wall needs a small TV screen for sitting at that island/peninsula.

  4. Hawk, but they would still have to open their own door, take out their own garbage, schedule time with repairman,… (exception being someone lives in a mansion with live-in help)

not that that’s bad but rather the uber lazy dudes would and should never consider a house and just buy a full svc pad like this.
