Co-op of the Day: 1110 Caton Avenue, #6C
This modest but attractive two-bedroom co-op at 1110 Caton Avenue in Kensington appears to have gone into contract earlier this year only to fall apart before closing. The 750-square-footer has a monthly maintenance of $690 and an asking price of $270,009. There two other apartments currently listed in the building around the same price. Seems…

Seems perfectly reasonable to us. You?

I set up an appointment to look at that apartment last spring. It’s a great price and, on a map, looks to be in a decent location. However, after walking down Caton Avenue, I canceled my appointment. It’s a really depressing stretch of street. Not only do trucks drive by constantly, but the parade grounds make you quite far from Prospect Park and at the same time keep it from feeling like a neighborhood, nothing is well maintained, etc.
That $999/mo is for a SHARE, not the whole apartment.
Here’s a comparable rental asking $1,895/mo (more spacious and better located). It’s been sitting for 47 days.

Here’s another one asking $1,540/mo (1.5 baths).

One more asking $999/mo.

Not good for the asking price above.

You did VERY well.
I hadn’t looked at the kitchen pics before…ROTFLMMFAO..these two blondes, er, I mean brokers are just incredible calling that a chef’s kitchen!!!!
Caton Avenue is a racetrack. I have only been there twice and have had near-accidents both times. I don’t like it there.
Love it, a slop sink in the kitchen!
The Garland stove and restaurant sinks=chef’s kitchen. Granted it needs some work but it’s far more interesting than the usual Loew’s/Home Depot/Ikea set ups that are the standard renovation.
The apartment feel apart? Yikes!
