Co-op of the Day: 96 Schermerhorn Street, PH-L
This penthouse at 96 Schermerhorn Street just hit the market and initially struck us as a pretty good deal. The rooms in the duplex apartment are pretty small but together add up to over 1,000 square feet; throw in the terrace and the views, however, and the asking price of $550,000 looks low, right? But…

The rooms in the duplex apartment are pretty small but together add up to over 1,000 square feet; throw in the terrace and the views, however, and the asking price of $550,000 looks low, right? But here’s the catch: The monthly maintenance is $2,031. Ouch.

I’m pretty sure that maint isn’t a mistake. I saw studio’s listed in that building last year that were charging about $900 a month in maint for something between 400 and 500 sqf.
Could it be possible that it’s one of those buildings that doesn’t own the land it’s on, like one of the lease back things I’ve seen before?
I guess a female apartment would have high maintenance.
I would love to meet the moron(s) that would actyally buy this POS.
“OK, so I can’t write mean words about female apartments on here”
Nomi, that’s what the OT is for >>>>>>>>
The monthlies. Does those come every month? “My apartment is having her monthlies, and man, is she a . . . ” OK, so I can’t write mean words about female apartments on here.
Ya think DIBS?! Sorry… but this place is friggin’ stupid. And, yeah, it’s more like 800 sq ft (including the spacious penthouse “terrace”)
If that maintenance is correct, there’s likely to be a large mortgage on the building. I would be very careful about investigating all of the financials
I don’t get it–who would buy this place and pay additional mortgage/rent on top of it. Even if I paid all cash, I don’t get it!
but it’s a PENTHOUSE!!! youll be living large like Mr drummond! oh wait, he lived in manhattan. here for that ridiculous amount of money you only get to look at it from afar.
