Condo of the Day: 70 Washington Street, #5A
For a building that sold out back in 2006 and 2007, 70 Washington Street sure has a lot of units on the market! StreetEasy shows 18, plus this FSBO we came across on the New York Times makes 19. Why so many? We have no idea. As for this fifth-floor two-bedroom, it clocks in at…

Why so many? We have no idea. As for this fifth-floor two-bedroom, it clocks in at 1,342 square feet and has an asking price of $1,165,000, which comes out to less than the average price per square foot for all the other current listings. This one’s been on the market for at least a couple of months. One reason it may not have sold is that it ain’t a real two-bedroom—it’s got one of those windowless offices instead. The main living area is nice though!

“I have one idea why people may be putting their places on the market now”
because there are still some idiots left
“But, blegh. I really don’t get it.”
You’ve pretty much summed up how I feel about Dumbo in general.
OK. I hope tybur6 is listening.
This just seems obscene to me. A one-bedroom with a windowless tiny office, one eastern exposure leaving a HUBE amount of space with little or no natural light, yet another kaplunked kitchen (yes, granted, the living/dining is large enough if you enjoy the kaplunked kitchen) for over a million dollars?
The only thing this place has is a very large living room. It’s not even on a high floor and anyway faces east, so wouldn’t be the best view regardless. And east means no great light. They took those photos during the probably one or two hours of direct morning light. This is not a “sun-filled” apartment!
Oh, it’s got low maintenance, I see. Ok, that.
But, blegh. I really don’t get it.
This home can achieve over a million.

Concerns about Greece. Single file line, ladies and gentlemen. No pushing, no shoving.
***Bid half off peak comps***
It isn’t a true second bedroom, as everyone knows. It is really a giant walk in closet.
hey, it is even only a few feet bigger than my foyer….
I love the building and the area, but I have to say, the builder really picked out the crappies type of cabinetry for the kitchen, It looks like a science lab. Totally no feeling what so ever. Those hanging lights are absolutely appauling, and every tennant has them unless they changed them. I do not like open shelving in the kitchen, it makes it look cluttered and messy.
had there been nicer cabinetry that looks like for a home and not a labratory, the apartment would be much nicer. But I know the next owner can change them.
Only if he can pick it up and move it to Greenwood Heights 🙂
okay, Snappy. I’ll have CGar buy it for you.
Pete, I don’t assume the buyers have kids. Just an observation about what may be used as a ‘second bedroom’ if the buyers do in fact have a kid or get preggers while living there. And yes, perfect layout for a single person. It would work perfectly for me. Don’t read more into what’s in front of you.
