Condo of the Day: 970 Kent Avenue, #303
We love the scale and light in these converted factory lofts at 970 Kent Avenue in Bed Stuy. (With the broker commission, the owner will be lucky to break even.) Think that’s realistic for the 928-square-foot pad?

Certainly, Nomi. It’s a strictly a matter of personal taste/preference.
Yes, I understand the bathroom for guests. It IS a good thing. Just feels like this place is too small for it.
And, yeah, it does feel kind of like a warehouse (duh). “I’ve worked in warehouses. I don’t want to live in one.” Funny. Yes. I guess I meant not characterless like some new construction is. But there are different kinds of character, and I agree that this is definitely more warehouse character. But lots of people like that, obviously .. . . Right? All the converted lofts — former warehouses. Though, of course, they can been done well or not so well.
I think they should throw a couch in the second bedroom for good measure.
I like the two bathrooms in a one-bedroom. One bathroom is private, for the owner and select guests, the other is for all other guests. It’s a good thing, really.
What I don’t like is the space. The windows are big but only chest-high. I don’t like that. There’s no central air, which is an issue in a place as big as this. Also the place looks, well, like a warehouse. Both inside and out. I’ve worked in warehouses. I don’t want to live in one.
Don’t want to tell people how many bathrooms they should want. Learned that already. “Peoople have different needs.” But I would definitely use the space of one of those bathrooms to add to common living space. And giving the kitchen a little more .. . dignity. IF I were redesigning this in some redesign fantasy game. I don’t think it’s a “characterless” place. The light looks nice too. Is that a southern exposure?
Common charges are $732 for a 5 year old condo?
“Yeah – couch against the kitchen island… you are going to have a couch full of little bits of errant chopped onion, misc. crumbs and a coating of spilled whatever. Not the best idea.” (tybur6)
Am I allowed to agree with you? 😉
That’s a real turn off for me.

I think some people on this blog would argue that 2 bathrooms is not even enough for a 1-bedroom apartment.

Tyburg, 2 bathrooms is enough for a 1 bed.
Though if there is only 1 person living in the apartment!
