It’s a petite sixth-floor walkup not far from the polluting BQE, but even for an HDFC co-op, it’s on the affordable end of the price scale. Located at 274 South 2nd Street in Williamsburg, it has two bedrooms and appears to be in move-in condition.

Made of tan brick and cream-colored stone, the Beaux-Arts-style building is heavily ornamented with scrolls, stripes, and pediments. Likely dating from the 1890s or the early years of the 20th century, the building can be seen with its imposing cornice still intact in an early tax photo. It now houses 34 apartments and three commercial units.

Inside No. 30, little ornamentation remains, but the ceilings are high and wood floors run throughout, apart from the bathroom. The living room is long but narrow, with room for dining or an office. There are two windows and a niche outfitted with shelves.

While both bedrooms could fit a queen bed, the smaller of the two is better suited for a twin. Each bedroom has one closet, for a total of two in the apartment.

The kitchen and bathroom are basic but serviceable, and the former has room for a table and chairs. There is no mention of storage or laundry in the building, nor central air or a dishwasher.

The HDFC building is income restricted; eligible incomes cap out at $118,680 to $152,520 a year for households ranging from one to three people. The maintenance is $660 a month.

Listed by Jonathan Tager of Corcoran, the apartment is asking $350,000. What do you think?
