This floor-through apartment is roomy and has some charming details like tin ceilings, but it will take a renter willing to make the trek to the top of the 19th century row house. In the Columbia Street Waterfront District at 82 Carroll Street, it is one of four units in the brick house.

The layout has a living room and adjacent kitchen at the rear of the unit, a windowless dining area in the center, and a bedroom and office facing the street. Wide-plank floorboards stretch through most of the rooms, and all except the bathroom have tin ceilings. Several of the rooms, including the bedroom, have ceiling fans, which might help mitigate the heat.

In the windowed kitchen there isn’t a dishwasher, but there are a fair number of white cabinets and some open shelving. You can see a bit more of the space in the virtual tour.

French doors separate the dining space from the bedroom, which looks large enough for a king-sized bed. The bathroom, accessible only via the bedroom, has Deco-era white and black tiles, a skylight, and a shower but no tub.

The listing notes there is no broker fee and no smoking in the building. Pets are allowed with approval and an extra $100 fee per month. The building is located near the sunken BQE, on the waterfront side of the highway, and is about a 15-minute walk from the subway.

Victoria Alexander of Realty Collective has the listing for the unit, and it is priced at $3,000 a month. This is up from $2,650 when it was for rent in 2021.
