The sales success of 90 First Place made us curious about how nearby conversion 126 First Place is faring. The five-unit condo went on sale this summer, and there haven’t been any sales recorded for the property yet. Listings—three of which have been taken off the market, with another in contract, and the last one still active—start at $925,000 and run up to $1,395,000 for 2-bedroom units. These prices are higher than 90 First’s, but not by an order of magnitude, so maybe the finishes are holding it back. Anyone seen these units in the flesh?

This is a Steven Reich building. BEWARE! He cuts corners. Expect a major facade rebuild in the next couple of years. If you must buy here, set aside $50,000 per unit (at least) for repairs. Personally I’d rather rent a 6th floor walk up in Queens than buy in a Steven Reich building!
Is the vibrating “better” when the trains go into the station or out of the station?
Went to go see these a few weeks ago. Really terrible finishes (supershiny plastic-looking kitchen cabinetry; crooked tiles in bathroom), and thoughtless floorplans (bedrooms with no closets, or strange useless teeny closets). Left there saying to my husband: those feel like slapdash rentals! and now they are. poetic.
living here you’d have a major construction project out your back window…is it Oliver house, the smith and 2nd building everyone freaked over?
elliman in Williamsburg is probably the best firm. different hood tho.
Pete, if there are two places I’d NEVER want to live it’s near a school or near Smith Street, and this house is near both!!
😉
Joking aside, Pete, I saw some pics and renditions of the units, and given the way they converted it, there’s nothing left resembling the original house, so it didn’t interest me.
CGar and househunt, when you sold your house, how did you sell it? FSBO? Broker? Did you under price it by 20%?
Looks like something you rent in, not buy.
so this is next to that school where they want to build out to sidewalk.
It never hurts(or costs) to look, Cgar.
