  1. oh, really one day some of you snarky anti-north brooklyn people need to actually GO to greenpoint. blocks and blocks and blocks especially off of Franklin are filled with 100 year old plus brick townhouses. same with the north berry and streets like n. 9th in williamsburg. people with kids are buying up these houses like crazy because of the great schools in the area. just at an industry cocktail party and met yet another person (this one with 3 kids) who did this. District 14 schools are also way way less crowded than the good PS schools, and are easier to get into even at the k level.

of course, much of brooklyn and queens is covered with aluminum siding, which, by the way, can be removed and changed to bricks. not exactly a big deal. cute house on driggs and N.7th did this in north williamsburg and now el almacen (spelling?) lovely argentinian restaurant is also in the building.

  2. Slopefarm
well I love south slope(I prefer it to the north-less people) so I am definetely keeping my eye on places.
We saw a house on 18th street btw 5th and 6th for 700K – but the place needed complete gut renvo and new layout – the only nice thing was the garden space

Also i think( I could be mistaken) that house was closer to 6th avenue, which I happen to dig b/c it’s quiet

  3. ugh i wish i didnt come from white trash so i could have a down payment or inheritance to get a cheapy studio like that one and only have to pay 185 dollars a month 🙁

vicious cycle of near poverty BLOWZ!

    *rob*

  4. Any thoughts on what the peak of the bubble price would have been for 11th St? Anyone willing to say it would have gone for over a mil? You know the widget would have had that thing in the high 600s. I think it is on the 5th-6th Ave block and not even in 107.

Gemini, is this going to move your hunt south?
