Brooklyn Open Houses -- Crown Heights, Bushwick

In the open-house department this weekend we’ve got three properties that are newly renovated, and one that’s in need of the same treatment. All multifamily homes, they span the neighborhoods Crown Heights, Prospect Park South and Bushwick.

On Prospect Place in Crown Heights we’ve got a three-story with an apartment on each floor. It’s renovated top to bottom, with central air. It’s not a treasure trove of original detail, but there’s quite a bit there, including moldings, mantels, woodwork, pocket doors and some original floors with inlays. No owner’s duplex, obviously, but some decent rental income.

In Prospect Park South we’ve got another three-story, three-unit building, this one a freestanding Victorian, sited at 1011 Beverly Road, just off Coney Island Avenue. This one needs work, and it’s being pitched toward investors/developers as well as potential owner-occupants — the listing cites “approximately 10,500 buildable feet.” The few pictures reveal vast spaces and lots of intact original detail, including beamed ceilings, stained glass, and inlaid parquet floors.

Moving over to Bushwick, we’ve got a pair of flips. The first, at 69 Eldert Street, has — you may sense a trend here — three floors with a unit on each. It’s fully renovated, according to the listing, though not in what you might call a high-end, spare-no-expense fashion.

The top two units are cited as having three to four bedrooms, the bottom as a three-bedroom, though those numbers work only if bedrooms without windows and/or with walk-in-closet proportions are counted. Which is not to suggest that aspiring Bushwick roommates will blanch at such things.

If it’s an owner’s duplex you’re after, you’ve finally found it with our last entry, at 1297 Bushwick Avenue. It’s got just such a space on its top two floors, above a two-bedroom garden rental, all newly renovated.

The duplex has an open-plan parlor floor with a nicely done kitchen, with Caesarstone countertops and floor-to-ceiling cabinets. Above are three bedrooms and two baths.
