This week, a look back at four of our featured listings from six months ago focuses on homes in Brooklyn Heights, Williamsburg, Crown Heights, and Flatbush. How did they fare?
In the Brooklyn Heights Historic District, a circa 1850s row house has marble mantels, plasterwork, and an original stair with niche. This former Open House Pick sold in July for $5.7 million, which was $50,000 under the asking price.
Set up as a single-family, a renovated brick row house in Williamsburg has wood floors, mantels, and moldings. A former Open House Pick, it was taken off the market in August.
It’s a modest Crown Heights house, one of a stretch of brick dwellings with tidy front yards, but its owner in 1972 had a bold vision for change. Brooklynite Shirley Chisholm, already the first Black woman elected to Congress, launched her bid for president from the home in 1972. This former House of the Day was taken off the market in April.
In Flatbush, a World War II-era studio on a high floor is roomier than most with a foyer and dressing room. Its many prewar-style features include a niche with shelves, picture rail, wainscot, wood floor, and three pointed arches in the entrance hall, which has two closets and is large enough to serve as a home office. This former Co-op of the Day sold in August for the asking price of $230,000.
