This weekend’s open house picks span four neighborhoods and a range of price points, from expensive ($1.35 million) to really expensive ($3.8 million). Two are gut renovated, one is in pristine shape but might call for some cosmetic tweaking, and one may need some updating, though the evidence presented is incomplete. They’re found in Prospect Park South, Greenpoint, Prospect Heights and Greenwood Heights.

We start on Argyle Road in Prospect Park South, where awaits a 1907 Neo-Colonial style freestanding home of generous proportions. Thirty-eight feet wide, it’s got a sprawling first floor with a large foyer, a vast living room, a dining room, a breakfast nook, a sun room, a kitchen, a half bath and two working fireplaces with marble surrounds. There are five bedrooms, including a master with an en suite bath, a dressing room and a ton of closet space. There are some nice details and features and it all looks well cared for, though there’s cosmetic work to do, unless you love red plush red carpeting and silver wallpaper. If you are a lover of retro wallpaper there are some great samples found within. There’s a finished basement with a laundry room and cedar closet, a front porch, a large yard, central a/c, a new roof, a driveway and a two-car garage.

On Sterling Place in the Prospect Heights Historic District is a venerable four-story circa 1901 Renaissance Revival limestone by architect Benjamin Driesler, with a barrel front. It’s got some nice original details, including Tiffany stained glass window transoms, a hallway pier mirror, leaded glass French doors, a coffered dining room ceiling, wainscoting, and a pair of fireplace mantels. It’s set up as a two-family, with a five-bedroom triplex below — with bedrooms split between the garden and second floors — and a two-bedroom rental on top. Photos are few and sketchy — updating may be needed. With a lot that’s 123 feet deep, it boasts “one of the largest gardens in New York City,” claims the listing.

Next up is a single-family house on 6th Avenue in Greenwood Heights, which is newly gut renovated in a modern style. Long and narrow would be one way to describe it — it’s 60 feet deep and some 15 feet wide. It’s got an open plan lower floor with a skylit double height section, a glass wall in the rear and a center kitchen with a long island and Carrara quartz countertops. Upstairs are three bedrooms and two full baths. There’s a finished basement, Elfa closets, and central air. The roof, water and sewer mains, and boiler are all new.

Last stop is Vandervoort Avenue, in an industrial stretch of Greenpoint, where we find a brick row house that’s been thoroughly renovated, apparently by a homeowner rather than an LLC. It’s a two-story, with an open plan lower floor and an upper floor that’s split into numerous small spaces including four bedrooms, an office space and two baths. There’s a nice kitchen with a backsplash of hand-drawn Portuguese tile and a small butcher-block-topped island, a garden with a large deck, and a semi-finished basement with a half bath. Features include multi-zone a/c, an air filtering system, LED lighting, video monitoring and a smart home system including an alarm system.
