This week Brownstoner readers were looking for some variety. The most popular listings including a mix of styles and materials — there were frame, brick and limestone houses and, of course, a classic Brooklyn brownstone made an appearance. There were rowhouses, standalones, a semi-detached house, a co-op and even a former liquor store.

Bushwick and Park Slope were popular this week, with other listings scattered throughout the borough. House prices started at close to $1 million — the cheapest was a brick house in Crown Heights at $975,000 and the most expensive was a Park Slope townhouse at $6.65 million.

Which would you choose?

10. In Bushwick, we find an aluminum-sided frame house in need of work. The images show a garden level living room in good shape, with a wood floor and tin ceiling, but elsewhere attention is called for; the house is “ready to be reimagined,” says the listing. It’s a three-story with front and rear bay windows, twenty feet wide, with just over 2,800 square feet.

9. This Renaissance Revival-slash-neo-Classical townhouse at 26 Montgomery Place in Park Slope is quite the grand residence. Landmarked and located on a park block, it’s huge, loaded with period details in stellar condition, and offers some modern amenities the 19th-century builders of the house never considered, like a roof deck and an in-ground pool.

8. On Empire Boulevard in Crown Heights is a narrowish (16.5 feet) three-story brick house with a bay front. It’s set up as a two-family, with a three-bedroom duplex over a one-bedroom garden rental. Condition seems to be mixed — what’s shown is in fine shape, including original hardwood floors in excellent repair and an original center staircase. But there’s plenty that’s not shown, including kitchens and baths.

7. Next is a two-family frame house in the South Slope on Webster Place, a quiet, block-long street that runs between 16th Street and Prospect Avenue. A three-bedroom duplex over a garden rental, it’s renovated in a modern style, with new dark-stained floors. The duplex has an open plan living space with an open steel staircase and a glass wall in the rear.

6. Here’s a charmer of a single-family house on a distinctive block. At 14 Martense Court in Flatbush, it’s one of 14 semi-detached brick homes on the cul de sac, which were built in one fell swoop in 1915 and 1916.

5. On Pioneer Street in Red Hook we’ve got a rustic charmer with beamed ceilings, wide-plank floors and a pair of wood-burning fireplaces. There’s a two-bedroom duplex with a terrace on the top two floors; below that is an open floor with a kitchen and bath that’s currently used as a home office and guest space, but could be a rental unit.

4. In Bushwick we find a brick row house with an angled bay front. Like the last one, it’s got some nice original details; it also looks like it needs some attention. There’s paneling to be removed, carpeting to be pulled up, and very likely kitchens and baths to be updated; who knows what else. A two-story, it’s got a pair of floor-through apartments.

3. This attractive Brooklyn Heights co-op has some Victorian detail, good light and ample space for a family, with three decent sized bedrooms. It’s on the fourth floor of a self-managed five-unit building at 33 Willow Street, between Cranberry and Middagh.

2. This one is a two-story rectangular building at the corner of Underhill Avenue and Prospect Place in Prospect Heights. A 19th century frame building that’s been stuccoed and otherwise altered, this one shows up as a store on historic maps (and according to some sources housed a liquor store in 1888). It’s fairly drab on the inside, where you’ll find an apartment on each floor.

1. Finally on Greene Avenue in Bed Stuy is a four-story brownstone, across the street from Herbert Von King Park. (The listing says the park is “a short walk” away, a rare example of listing understatement.) Photos are scant for this one, but they suggest a place that has details and needs work. The listing mentions wainscoting, hardwood floors and “gorgeous fireplaces.” A three-family, it’s laid out with an owner’s duplex and two rentals.
