Our selections for open houses to see on this first weekend in December include a trio of row houses in estate condition and another with the restoration work complete. Found in Bed Stuy, Fort Greene and Crown Heights, they range in price from $1.5 million to $2.62 million
First up, on Jefferson Avenue in Bed Stuy, this turn-of-the-century brownstone has had some paint touch-ups and new photos since it was featured as a House of the Day back in 2018, but all the lush details are the same, including three working fireplaces, pier mirrors and parquet floors. The two-family is set up as a pair of duplex units and the restoration included central air and updated plumbing and electrical.
In Fort Greene, this 1870s brownstone hasn’t changed hands in over 40 years. Set on Vanderbilt Avenue in the Fort Greene Historic District, it’s a two-family that is set up as a single family, with just one kitchen according to the floorplan. There are some original Italianate details including marble mantels, window shutters and plaster medallions along with some 20th century design choices. Neither the kitchen nor the 3.5 baths are pictured so it’s presumed those might need some updating.
Another estate condition option is this brick row house on Lincoln Place in Crown Heights. The two family is set up as a duplex with a top floor one-bedroom rental. Original woodwork has been painted but there is plenty of it, including an original stair, window and door moldings and multiple mantels. Again, the kitchens and baths aren’t pictured so they likely need some work.
Back in Bed Stuy is another brownstone that hasn’t been on the market in decades. This one is a three-family with two rentals above a duplex owner’s unit. The 1880s Neo-Grec is located in the Stuyvesant Heights Historic District and the few listing photos available show that the interior has some original details intact, including a pier mirror, moldings and mantels. There aren’t any photos of the kitchens or the occupied rental units. The leases on those units expire in 2021.
