Here’s a two-story, two-family row house with an angled brick front, which needs some updating. At 111 Beadel Street in East Williamsburg, near the Greenpoint border, it’s in one of the oldest parts of Brooklyn, around where Bushwick was founded in the 1600s.

The exterior of the circa 1900 house is nice, but the interior is dated and worn, with drop ceilings of acoustical tile, paneled walls and tiled floors. Perhaps there are interesting things to be found beneath those layers –– or perhaps a gut reno is the prescribed cure.

It appears to be an original two-family house with a floor-through apartment on each floor. It could be kept that way, maybe by a buyer looking for an investment property, or turned into a single residence by someone with vision. The basement is finished, according to the listing, and there is a garden out back.

Location wise there are some drawbacks. The nearest subway stations — the Nassau Avenue G stop or the Graham Avenue L stop — are just over a mile away. The National Grid Greenpoint Energy Center — a Superfund site that includes a waste transfer station and a natural gas storage facility — is a neighbor. Beyond that is Newtown Creek, another Superfund site.

Listed by William Higgins of Coldwell Banker, the house hit the market in June at $1.99 million; after a few small price drops it’s now asking $1.149 million. What would you do with it?
