This duplex apartment is attractive and spacious, with two generous bedrooms and two baths plus an office space or the equivalent. It’s on the upper floors of a brick townhouse at 542 Clinton Street, at the southern end of Carroll Gardens.

The living room is on the parlor floor, so you get a nice high ceiling and a couple of oversized windows, as well as a marble fireplace mantel and some exposed brick.  The kitchen gets good light as well, and can accommodate a large table.

There are tin ceilings in the bedrooms, which as noted are on the large side; one has a second marble mantel. There’s no floor plan nor mention of closet space, so we can’t tell you what’s in store there.

The bathrooms are nice and amply sized; one holds a stacked washer and dryer.

You’re up close to the Gowanus Expressway at this end of Clinton, but at enough remove that the noise and fumes probably aren’t too bad. And Frankie’s Spuntino is a block away, which doesn’t hurt.

Listed by Halstead brokers Kirsten Syrett and Sarah Chamberlin, the unit is renting for $4,750 a month, available in July. Any takers?
