An affordable housing lottery has opened for six units in a 10-story building at 467 Keap Street, on the corner of Ainslie Street, in Williamsburg. It’s appropriately called Ainslie Tower and is only one block away from another building that is currently in the middle of an affordable lottery.

Of the affordable apartments, there are three one-bedroom apartments and three two-bedrooms available. Monthly rents start at $1,058 a month and top out at $1,280.

The lottery is set at an area median income range of 60 percent, with eligible incomes ranging between $36,275 and $62,580 for households of one to four people.

There are 29 total units in the building, a mix of condo and rental, which went on the market in 2012. Based on former listing photos, the apartments have high ceilings, open kitchens and small balconies. Most appear to have large, triple-length windows.

When market-rate units were first introduced in 2012, the announcement was accompanied by a strange YouTube video.

The curvy building is perched on two former lots where industrial buildings once stood. They were both scooped up by a group called Sun Sun Corp. in 2007 and demolished sometime around 2009.

Thomas Gilman is the architect of record. On his firm’s website, they call the building “Dancing Towers,” in reference to the way the building is split in two, each side slightly ajar — akin, we suppose, to a dancing duo.

Diagonally across the street, at 462 Keap Street, is another building the firm designed. They are also behind the look of the President Street Hotel, located at 529 President Street in Gowanus.
