Nothing’s hit public records yet, but an announcement on the Brooklyn Free School’s website says that the seven-year-old school has purchased the five-story brownstone at 372 Clinton Avenue. It’s about time! The 25-foot-wide house had been on the market since mid-2006. The most recent asking price was $1,999,000. Sounds like a nice addition to the neighborhood. The South Slope’s loss is Clinton Hill’s gain. GMAP

  1. For example – Teachers College’s statistics (test scores, graduation rates, etc.) are kept segregated from the rest of Columbia University… because it would bring down the average! And of course this is one of the best Schools of Ed in the country.

  2. The sad truth is that students applying and attending Schools of Education have very low entrance credentials (GPA, standardized test scores) as compared to almost all other fields of graduate study.

  3. I wasn’t referring to Mr. B’s post, but to the school’s announcement. “it’s mansion row”, please! It’s really a pet peeve of mine, teachers who can’t spell, not even for a press release. It’s the mark of a disorganized mind.

  4. Yes. It’s used correctly.

By the way, I think my brain is broken… I read “The South Slope’s loss is Clinton Hill’s gain.” three times thinking it read “The South Slope is Clinton Hill again.” That was very confusing and I’m glad that’s not what it said!! 🙂

  5. This is terrific news!

The Woodward School, which was once at 321 Clinton Ave., was the only non-parochial private school in the area, decamped and merged with the Ethical Culture school in Park Slope in the late seventies or early eighties. It’s nice finally there’s a new choice in the neighborhood : )
