Maspeth Creek

Mitch Waxman of the Newtown Pentacle writes about a little know place called Maspeth Creek. It looks pretty awesome, he has photos of beautiful birds and serene industrial landscapes. Waxman writes: “Somehow, despite the endemic pollution in the sediments and mud and the constant flow of sewage, nature has begun to take the waterway back unto itself.” You had us at constant flow of sewage. Still, his pictures show the place worthy of further exploration.

  1. The cyanobacteria, plankton and algae love it, but they cause an imbalance in the homeostasis of the local ecosystem which results in decreased biodiversity.

    …and it smells bad too.
