Tonight we will hit up the Flux Factory for Randi & Katrine: The Tourist Gaze. It’s an opening, looks like it will be fun and flux is super awesome. We might also head over to Space Womb for their opening tonight from 6 to 8 p.m., but that place is kind of hit or miss.

Saturday:

In the morning, we will wake up early and watch whatever free movie they want to show us at 11: 15 a.m. at Jackson Heights Cinema. Then we will eat something delicious nearby. Maybe roti? Then off to the Museum of the Moving Image for their current exhibit, Jodi: Street Digital. It’s about virtual reality, you know that thing we all live in now. And there is this lecture at 2 p.m. about early film criminals’ visual identity, “focusing on their acts of disappearance and transformation that owe much to the realms of magic and early trick film.” The lecture and films will be presented by Tom Gunning (not to be confused with Tim Gunn). If we get bored, we will sneak out to watch “The Loving Story”  on Saturday at 3 p.m. It’s a documentary about the trials and tribulations of an interracial couple during segregation. We might also go catch Catch at the Chocolate Factory, it’s a showcase of emerging artists and each performance cost $10, but they are starting to sell out fast, so get your tickets. There are also several inexpensive improv contests at the Secret Theatre that you might want to check out.

Sunday:

To the Jackson Heights Greenmarket we go! The market is open every Sunday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 34th Avenue and 77th Street.  If it isn’t in your area, Queens Buzz has a map of other borough markets and a link you can click on to see times and locations. Then, we’ll head to MoMA PS1 with our veggies in tow to hear actor James Franco and queer activist Kate Bornstein read from their respective books. Kate starts at 2 p.m., James starts at 5:30 p.m. Questlove will DJ starting at noon as part of the museum’s Sunday Sessions,  tickets are $10 in advance and can be purchased online. And how can we forget, Sunday is the TD Bank’s Five Borough Bike Tour. You will likely see riders on the upper level of the Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge, Pulaski Bridge, Westbound Brooklyn-Queens Expressway and Gowanus Expressway from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. because that’s when those roads will be closed. Vernon Boulevard between the Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge and the Pulaski Bridge is a good place for biker watching, you can wave to them from PS1. Then head over to the Creek and the Cave for some free comedy improv.

This is also the last weekend for Stillspotting in Jackson Heights, a literary tour run by the Gugenheim, check it out.

If these ideas are not enough, We Heart Astoria has a great list for Astorians, Queens Mamas has a good one for parents, LIQcity has some suggestions, as does Queens Buzz. Not to overwhelm you with possibility or anything.
