Behold, the new, 22-story Aloft Hotel planned for 27-45 Jackson Avenue in Long Island City. According to the Aloft website, it is scheduled to open in September 2015. The developer filed demolition permits for the existing 20-foot-wide and 200-foot-deep building in July and demolition is now nearly complete. As for the new structure planned for the site, DOB records show that the architect is none other than the ubiquitous Gene Kaufman. The DOB has not yet approved building plans. Check out another rendering after the jump. Thumbs up or thumbs down for Kaufman’s design?
