Checking in on Hotel Construction Happening Around Queens Plaza North

The other day, things were kind of quiet around the two major hotel developments on Queens Plaza North. The first project, pictured above, is the future Hilton Garden Inn. The 16-story tower, to hold 183 hotel units, has topped off and has some of its facade. A sign on the construction fence promises a completion date of November 2014 which seems possible, if construction moves smoothly. Here is how the site looked over the summer. Then New York IMBY caught construction this past fall.

Right next door is 29-07 Queens Plaza North, the future site of a 31-story Marriott Hotel. That’ll hold 160 hotel rooms on lower floors and 135 residences on top. The ETA is slated for October 2015 but it looks like very little work has happened so far. Nothing’s peeking above the construction fence, and foundation work began last October.
