Perusing the Department of Buildings site, it looks like an application to build a 22 story transient hotel has been filed. It would be about 9,500 square feet in size, located at 27-45 Jackson Avenue in LIC (GMAP), around the corner from the new Gotham Center, and up the street from Dutch Kills Bar and their Blissville eatery.

Gene Kaufman Architect, who has worked on many buildings in NYC, including a variety of hotels (chains and boutique), as well as the Brooklyn Navy Yards, is involved. We didn’t see any teaser images or drawing for this project on the website, though. We’ll keep an eye on it.

As an aside, a transient hotel doesn’t mean it’s an “hourly rate” or flophouse kind of spot. It just means that 75% or more of the guests are not permanent residents.
