72-tennis-place

A reader wrote in to shed a little light on 72 Tennis Place, the Forest Hills Gardens home that hit public records this week for an impressive $4,300,000. The number came with few details; the Sotheby’s listing had already been pulled. Our tipster reports: “It is really about 8,000 square feet, a bit over 5,000 square feet above ground, two car garage, finished construction in 2005 I believe.” The Wall Street Journal actually listed the property as a House of the Day back in 2010, when it was asking $5,999,000. We would have guessed the house was old, but the previous owners actually demolished the existing home on site and built this one. It cost the owners a total of $2,500,000 to build. The Wall Street Journal calls this a “seven-bedroom Tudor with international influences.” See tons of interior pictures here.
