Queens had the second-highest quarterly growth in foreclosures in the city, with almost three times more foreclosures in the second quarter this year than in the first, according to data compiled by PropertyShark. (The Bronx had the highest.) Throughout the city, first time foreclosures doubled in Q2, reaching a two-year high. There were 348 first time foreclosures recorded — and 129 of them happened in Queens. As for pre-foreclosures, they continue to rise throughout the city at a steady rate. The number of lis pendens in the second quarter is 4,214, up 36 percent from last year and up 19 percent from the previous quarter. Queens had the highest number of lis pendens, at 1,692.
