On Sunday on our way to the St. Pat’s For All parade, we got off at the 46th Street 7 stop and spied a most surprising and beautiful thing under the train at street level – a momo cart!

And not only a momo cart but a Potala Fresh Food momo cart. The Potala Fresh Food cart has had a regular presence in Jackson Heights (and for the longest time they were the only one, until another momo cart cart (A&G Himalayan Fresh Food) recently opened up across the street from them) for a while now, and the cart in Sunnyside is a second cart, not a replacement location.

At the Jackson Heights cart, they only offer beef momos. At the Sunnyside cart they offer beef and chicken momos, either steamed or fried, 8 momos for $5. You can buy 10 frozen momos, too, also for $5.

We took the opportunity to try the steamed chicken momos and boy were they delicious! Very savory, juicy, and piping hot, and it looked like the filling had something like scallion mixed in with the meat. We loved their beautiful shape, too.

You can also eat them with hot sauce, and squeeze bottles of mayo and soy sauce are also available.

We asked the woman running the cart when she is there and she told us they are in this spot every day from 12-10:30pm. Here she is watching over our momos.

We are thrilled that Potala Fresh Food has established a cart in Sunnyside and we hope they do very well there! We’ll certainly be back.
