Flushing is hot, and it shows no signs of cooling down. People from all over the world want to visit the neighborhood, stay in its hotels, eat in its restaurants, shop in its stores, and enjoy art in its cultural venues.

Make Music New York is hot, too. Now in its ninth year, this live musical event celebrating the first day of summer will feature 1,000 free performances throughout New York City’s five boroughs.

The biggest concert, Music Beyond Borders, will take place in Flushing’s Queens Crossing shopping center on June 21. Various singers, musicians, and dancers will bring their talents from such cities as Beijing, Manila, Seoul, Taipei, and Tokyo. (An Astoria rocker, a few Flushing dancers, and a rapper from Brooklyn will also participate.)

The Japanese boyband EXPG, part of the J-pop genre, will headline the show. RK & Cedric from the legendary Korean hip hop crew The Movement will rock the house, and Miss Chinese Cosmos Ssuting Yu will present a special musical skating show. Other scheduled performers include Hananel, an Israeli pop star in the Michael Jackson mold; Filipino rapper Izzy Man and The Plan; and Rick Rocker.
