As part of PublicolorDay, a city initiative to transform NYC public spaces over the course of a day, the students at Flushing’s Paul Klapper School (P.S. M.S. 219) painted and rehabbed their cafeteria. The students teamed up with volunteers to work from 10am until 3pm this past Saturday; the day was funded and sponsored by the media company YP. You can see pictures of the event after the jump. As school principal Mr. Frederick Wright stated in a press release, “PublicolorDay is a community event, students gain pride because they are taking part in upgrading their own building. That puts the value of the school into them and makes a better community.”
