parking-lot-astoria-open

Today, local pols and Hellenic American Action Committee (HANAC) representatives cut the ribbon at the organization’s public parking lot. According to Council Member Peter F. Vallone Jr., opening the parking lot was delayed due to problems with Con Ed, Verizon, HPD and the Department of Buildings — Vallone called it a “bureaucratic nightmare.” He negotiated this parking lot to replace parking spaces lost in the construction of nearby George Douris Tower — this new lot has a total of 59 spaces. It’s located right on 29th Street and Astoria Boulevard. GMAP

  1. What a waste of space! We could build a hundred apartments that are desperately needed by city residents. And serve residents with more frequent bus service. And how much does it suck walking past a parking lot.
