A harbor seal made an “unusual” appearance on the rocks in the Harbor in Red Hook yesterday. Per this video, “Let’s hope this seal doesn’t make a wrong turn into the Gowanus Canal.”

  1. “global warming. the animals are confused.”

    Actually, Harbor seals were very common in our area as earlier as 50 years ago. They are still ocassionally seen in the area and I even remeber seeing several in LI Sound when I was a kid, only 10-15 years ago.

    Also – Since these are cold water animals, wouldnt that be the opposite of global warming for them to be this far south?
