Elected officials are starting to make some noise about the city’s plan to re-open and expand the House of Detention on Atlantic Avenue, according to the Brooklyn Eagle. On Thursday Councilman David Yassky is going to hold a press conference decrying the plan, and he’s expected to be joined by Councilman Bill de Blasio and Comptroller Bill Thompson. The event will mark the first time politicians speak out in a big, organized way against the plan. The Eagle also mentions the new neighborhood group that’s formed to protest the House of D reopening. The group, Stop BOHD, has placed signs like the one above all over Cobble Hill and Boerum Hill. One of Stop BOHD’s members is a lawyer from a firm that successfully sued to stop a similar House of Detention opening in the Bronx.

  1. “The crash and crime wave is in your area of seedy Clinton Hill…Prices are negotiable right now meaning its a great time to buy…And btw I did not buy in the height of the market I just bought with a 15% discount of the offering price..”

    Here Asshat read this…

S&P/Case-Shiller Home Prices Fell 15.3% in April (Update1)

Mortgage defaults and foreclosures are adding to the glut of properties on the market, while stricter loan rules are making it more difficult for prospective buyers to get financing. The prolonged real-estate slump, along with higher fuel prices and a shrinking job market, is taking a toll on consumers and the economy.

“I am very comfortable with the price and the area and feel its a good investment over time, I am not trying to make a killing in 2 years..”

Yep justification of being a Asshat… Cognitive dissonance!

“BTW BHOD is city living it was put there whenDowntown and Boerum Hill were complete dumps… The area has changed its a fact I could understand why they would reopen but no need to expand.”

Hey Dumbass, the remodeling of BHOD was started in 2000, not recently. You was back in Kansas humping the barn animals.

“You whining people holding your noses at life’s little unpleasantries should move somewhere else. City living is not for you. You sound like a bunch of spoiled, sulky brats who think that it’s all about them.”

    Right on, right on!!!

The What (That’s all you got?)

Someday this war is gonna end…

  2. There is nothing like the opportunity for a new job Yassky, deblasio etc. to get our local political flip-floppers to hold a news confrence. Yassky who manages to take every side of every issue is now aginst the jail- while he is running for controller what a suprise. THIS IS A MAN WHO SUPPORTS BUILDING A BATTERY PARK CITY ON OUR WATERFRONT AND OVERODE THE LANDMARKS COMMITTEE FOR A FAVORED DEVELOPER.
    GO DAVID

  3. I don’t want my hood to ever change, I have lived here forever and nothing should change, the sky is falling, the crime wave is coming, the market is dropping like a stone, the newcomers are spoiled, deal with it, don’t do anything to take away my comfort zone, move out this is my home, green acres is the place for you, if it was there it should stay there….

  4. THE WHAT 10am…

The crash and crime wave is in your area of seedy Clinton Hill…Prices are negotiable right now meaning its a great time to buy…And btw I did not buy in the height of the market I just bought with a 15% discount of the offering price…Who nows it may go down a bit but by how much no one nows and especially you don’t…I am very comfortable with the price and the area and feel its a good investment over time, I am not trying to make a killing in 2 years…Bottom line is people need to live places and start a life so if you feel you are getting a good price you have to guy with your gut not what some assho*e is saying on a website…

BTW BHOD is city living it was put there whenDowntown and Boerum Hill were complete dumps… The area has changed its a fact I could understand why they would reopen but no need to expand. ANd especially the way the area has prospered it would make sense to look at alternative areas… I am not saying in someone elses neighborhood I am saying redo RIKERS is what should be done…

  5. Classic ignorance, 10:00. They haven’t been tried and guaranteed quite a few will acquitted at trial. So unless you’re omniscient, which is highly unlikely, and unless you’d rather see the basic tenets of the Constitution undermined, you really should just step away from the keyboard.

You whining people holding your noses at life’s little unpleasantries should move somewhere else. City living is not for you. You sound like a bunch of spoiled, sulky brats who think that it’s all about them.
